Design Requirements for Golf Course Lighting

March 09,2022

Modern golf originated in Scotland. Due to its unique cultural connotation, this leisure sport of shepherds has lasted for 500 years and has spread more and more widely all over the world. At the same time, golf is also an elegant sport, so some rules and requirements are strict. So, for the night, how should the lighting of the golf course be designed reasonably? As a golf course lights manufacturer, our recommendations are as follows:

How to design golf course lighting reasonably?

Golf Course Lights Manufacturer,Custom Golf Course Lights,Golf Course Lighting Supplier

?The division of the stadium area and the illumination standard

The golf course has four parts: teeing area, flat road, obstacle area and green area

  1. Kick-off area: The horizontal illumination is 100LUX, and the vertical illumination of 100LUX is required to view the direction, landing point and distance of the ball.

  1. Flat fairways and obstacle areas: The horizontal illumination is 70LUX to see the fairway clearly.

  1. Greens: The horizontal illumination of the greens is 200LUX to ensure that the height, slope and distance of the terrain can be accurately judged.

?Requirements for the lighting design of the competition venue

  1. The lighting of the teeing area should prevent strong shadows from being produced. The stadium lights with wide light distribution are used for close projection, and the distance between the light poles and the teeing area is 5M, and the light is illuminated from 2 directions.

  1. The fairway lighting is dominated by narrow light distribution floodlights to ensure sufficient vertical illumination and uniform illumination during golf flight.

  1. There should be no lighting dead zone and no glare in the whole area.

Overclocking three-LED stadium light (high pole light) kit, using heat pipe riveted fins for efficient heat dissipation technology; with square and round multi-angle reflectors for a wide range of applications; high-pressure cast aluminum shell and tempered glass, strong impact resistance; built-in The reflector and the textured glass have a uniform light spot and effectively suppress glare.

TGC400-400W, TGC500-500W, TGC1000-1000W, three power options, the lamp has high efficiency, energy saving and long life, which can perfectly replace the high pressure sodium lamps of 1000W-2000W and above.

Common misunderstandings about golf course lighting

?The brighter the pitch, the better

At first everyone thought that the nighttime lighting of the stadium should be as bright as possible, preferably the same as during the day. But this is not the case, the characteristics of golf determine that it needs specific lighting effects.

As we all know, golf is a sport of leisure and relaxation, as opposed to the exciting atmosphere of football and basketball. Therefore, the lighting of the golf course is more suitable for soft light, so that golfers feel like swinging and walking under the moonlight.

Furthermore, it takes at least 2 hours to finish a round of golf, and the golfer's eyes will definitely feel tired after being exposed to artificial light for such a long time.

?1000-1500 watt light source emits yellow light, 2000 watts emits white light

Some people think that a light source with 1500 watts is considered to emit yellow light, while the light emitted by a light source of 2000 watts is white. In fact, yellow light and white light are not directly related to the power of the light source, they are determined by the color temperature of the light source. We can see in the standard chromaticity distribution diagram and Planck curve in the figure that the color temperature is between 3600K and 10000K, which are all in the white light range, less than 3600K is yellow light, and greater than 10000K is blue light.
